What a great place, I could not believe I would find new, clean and modern accommodation on Koh Yao Yai but these rooms were great, and not expensive. It had all the facilities which we needed in the room and was only a 2 minute walk to the beach. I stayed in the resort for 3 nights in 2007 and will go back next time I am in Thailand.
If you are looking to get away from the crowds, but still have some comforts this is a great place to stay. I checked around the island while I was staying a definitely made the best choice.
The food in the restaurant was great too, and nothing too much for Yamalia and the staff to make our stay enjoyable.

Heimat is just what we were looking for. A homestay type guesthouse in nature with great food, easy access to a quiet, clean beach and set in a friendly village. The room was great value, size and condition; the service from Yamali was excellent and her cooking in the restaurant was A1. Our stay was pure pleasure, the only thing lacking was the fabricated western-style resort theme - this is a much more natural setting, a genuine piece of real Thailand which works its quiet magic on you so that after a week or two you have completley de-toxed!! And the rain season isn’t that bad - after the odd downpour, it clears off - the thunderstorms are great value and thre frogs sing for all the world! Look forward to returning! Thanks again.
